01 / QUICK START

Start with these three steps

The essential reading controls are the same in Simple and Pro.

  1. 1

    Open a book

Select “Open Archive” on the home screen or drop a ZIP onto the window. Pro can also open image folders and multiple supported archives.

  2. 2

    Turn the page

In right-to-left mode, the Left Arrow moves forward and the Right Arrow moves back. You can also click the left or right side of the viewer.

  3. 3

    Adjust the view

Press the Up Arrow to switch between single-page and spread view. Move the pointer to the bottom edge to reveal the thumbnail seek bar.

02 / TROUBLESHOOTING

When something is not working

Open the item that matches your situation and check each point in order.

01A book will not open

Check that the file uses a supported format, is not password-protected, encrypted or split, and is not damaged. An archive or folder without any supported images cannot be opened.

Simple opens one ZIP archive. Use Pro for other archive formats, image folders or multiple books.

02Images are missing or do not appear

Files whose extension does not match the actual image format, damaged images and unsupported images are excluded. In Pro, also check the safety limits configured for image dimensions, pixel count and file count.

03Pages are paired into the wrong spreads

Display the page that should remain on its own, then press the Down Arrow or P to mark it as a single page. Spread pairing after that page shifts by one page. Press the key again to remove the mark.

04Pages are in the wrong order

Press Shift + Left Arrow or Shift + Right Arrow to swap the current page with the neighboring image. In Pro, you can also reorder pages in Page Manager by dragging thumbnails or entering page numbers.

05A volume will not open from the Pro bookshelf

The original archive or image folder may have been moved, renamed or deleted. Follow the message on screen and select the matching file or folder again.

06Page Manager changes do not appear on the bookshelf

If “Save to Bookshelf” at the top of Page Manager is highlighted, some changes have not been saved. Select “Save to Bookshelf” before returning to the bookshelf.

07Displaying pages or animation feels slow

Very large images and long GIF or WebP animations can take time to open or play. In Pro, also check the safety limits and the location and maximum size of the thumbnail cache.

08Keyboard input does not turn the page

While editing a text field in the bookshelf or Page Manager, arrow and letter keys are used for text editing. Click outside the field before trying the shortcut again. Hover over an unfamiliar icon to see its description.

03 / FAQ

Frequently asked questions

QCan I read manga from an online service?

Not at present. Manga ZIP Viewer is designed for locally stored files on your Mac.

QAre my manga images or reading history sent anywhere?

No. The current apps do not use accounts, advertising, tracking or telemetry. Selected files and reading data are processed on your Mac.

Read the app privacy policy

QDoes the app modify my original archive or images?

Normal reading, saving to the bookshelf and Page Manager do not modify the source files. Only the Pro command that applies display names to actual files in an image folder renames the source files after confirmation. Back up important data before using it.

QWhat is the difference between Simple and Pro?

Simple is the basic edition for opening one ZIP immediately. Pro adds multiple formats, image folders, a bookshelf, reading positions, Page Manager, external controller support and JSON backup.

Compare editions

QDoes a Pro backup include the original images?

No. A JSON backup includes the bookshelf, series and volume information, reading positions, covers, page order, display names, single-page marks, hidden pages and binding direction. Keep the original archives and image folders separately.

QCan I restore my bookshelf on another Mac or after reinstalling?

Yes. Pro can import a bookshelf JSON file. File access permissions are not included, so after restoration you must select each original archive or folder once to reconnect it.

QCan I use the apps on an Intel Mac, iPhone or iPad?

No. An Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later is required.
